Week 1 at AAC Camp
We welcomed all of our campers to the first week of camp this past week. We read a book about Eugenie Clark and learned about her love for sharks. This inspired our older group to research some shark facts using voice typing and their AAC, as well as complete some other writing about sharks. Our younger groups completed some scavenger hunts for our vocabulary, worked on core vocabulary during play with a parachute, as well as blocks and cars. We all got our groove on in Zumba and music was bouncing off the walls with music with Rusty. Who, on the fly, played a KISS song and We Will Rock You when a camper requested it. In Science we explored what sank (went down) and what floated (went up) with lots of fun water play. Our cooking this week was making a rainbow fruit salad. We talked about colors on the inside and outside of the fruit and enjoyed the smells and tastes of the fruit. Some campers felt this was a boring cooking activity. We all felt the heat this week and enjoyed swimming in the pool on our pool days. The campers are beginning to get comfortable in the camp environment and are learning the schedules of the different days. Fun was had and we can’t wait for next week!
